motivationmonday4When things don’t quite go your way or you’re so scared to make a leap of faith that could completely change your life, it’s your motivation and your big why that will keep you going in any situation. You may have heard me talk about why having a ‘big why’ is so important in other articles and blogs but for those of you that aren’t sure what it is, or if yours is powerful enough, here is my definition of a BIG WHY…

Set a goal that makes you want to jump out of bed in the morning“When you have made an absolute decisions about changing your life, you’ll have a reason why you want to make the change. ‘I want more money’ or ‘I’d love a new car’ simply isn’t a big enough reason. Your big why will be the sole reason that will get you out of bed every morning even though you are tired and quitting seems like the easier option. It will motivate you no matter how many ‘No’s’ you get. It will keep you strong. When your journey gets tough and you feel like you’ve hit a roadblock your BIG WHY will be there! It will be there to pull you through and to give you that mental push that you need to keep your motivation in check. You’ll know when you’ve found it as it will light a fire deep within your stomach.”

My big why was my daughters. I wanted to show them that I could be a strong independent woman and so could they. I also wanted to give them the financial security that I never had. What’s yours?

When I first started my journey and began to build (slowly at first) my property portfolio, I found surrounding myself with positive quotes, reading inspirational books and reading real life stories about people that were living successful lives so inspirational and so helpful. This week I thought I would share with you some of my favourite quotes to keep you positive, encourage, motivate, and inspire you:

  1. “You don’t have to be great to start but you have to start to be great.” – Zig Ziglar

  2. “Living in the moment means letting go of the past and not waiting for the future. It means living your life consciously, aware that each moment you breathe is a gift.” – Oprah Winfrey

  3. “Give a girl the right shoes, and she can conquer the world.” – Marilyn Monroe

  4. “Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take, but by the moments that take our breath away.” – Maya Angelou

  5. “Few things in the world are more powerful than a positive push. A smile. A world of optimism and hope. A ‘you can do it’ when things are tough.” – Richard M. Devos

  6. “The individual who says it is not possible should move out of the way of those doing it.” -Tricia Cunningham

  7. “All the adversity I’ve had in my life, all my troubles and obstacles, have strengthened me.” – Walt Disney

  8. “I don’t mind living in a man’s world as long as I can be a woman in it”. – Marilyn Monroe

  9. What we think, we become. – Buddha

  10. No matter how many mistakes you make or how slow you progress, you’re still way ahead of everyone who isn’t trying” – Tony Robbins

Many years ago I also read a book called ‘Feel the Fear.. and do it anyway’ by Susan Jeffers. WOW! What a truly inspirational book. If you’ve not read it yet, I’d strongly recommend that you do!

Ipost-it-notes-clipart-7eTMnGXin really hope these quotes and others speak to you. Make sure you find some that resonate with you and immerse yourself in them for as long as they’re useful. I wrote some of my favourites on post-it notes and put them all around the house in places where I’d always see them. It sounds so simple, but it really does work! Try it! Remember that surrounding yourself with inspiration can create a mental shift towards positivity and creativity. It’s definitely one of the best pieces of advice I can give to anyone who wants to reach their dream.

I’d absolutely love to hear what your favourite quotes are and any rituals that you do to help you remain focused and on track so please leave me a comment below or share them on my Facebook page. I’d also love to hear what your big why is. What makes you get out of bed and tackle the world head on each and every day?

Live the life you love,

Hi Belinda, my “Big Why” i am 60 and found myself in a situation where I will have to work for the rest of my life if I carry on doing what I am doing. I want to change that, I would like to create security for myself and want my children to be proud of me.
