You… the entrepreneur!  Yes… I’m talking to you! You are on your path! You are fulfilling your dreams! You have a clear and foolproof plan! You are in control!

The Do's and Don'ts to Become an EntrepreneurBut what if you’re not? What if you think you’re on the right path… but you’re not? What if you have an amazing idea but you’re simply too scared to take the first step? What are you going to do about it?

So many people think they have the a clear idea about making their dream a reality but their vision can often be blurred creating confusion and uncertainty. Others lose momentum and their dreams fall by the wayside.

To help you reignite the passion or to reaffirm what you’re doing is right, I have put together my main do’s and don’ts of entrepreneurs:

DO’S

DON’TS

DO uphold your values. So many people ‘sell out’ on their dreams when choices come into play. This could be something like joining a partnership or a company approaches you for your idea/product. Remember to do the right thing for you! If the right thing is to join forces then make sure you have a crystal clear agreement that uphold your values.

DON’T give up! So many entrepreneurs give up when the going get’s tough. It’s not because their idea, skill set, vision or the current climate isn’t good enough… it’s because they feel at a loss. Take time to take a step back, breathe and re-assess the situation. More often than not, you’ll see the answer you’ve been searching for.

DO trust your gut instinct. I always say… ‘If it doesn’t feel right, it usually isn’t right’. When making decisions always tune into your gut feeling.

DON’T miss the point of what you’re trying to achieve. Only change your path if its feels right to do so. This is your journey and you should enjoy every minute of it.

DO remember why you started on this rollercoaster. There will be times when your ambition, determination and drive will want you to do one thing and fear will want you do another. Think about your big why and reflect on your achievements before making any decisions.

DON’T forget your big why. When times become difficult, don’t lose focus about why you started your journey. People often think business changes them, but you have to agree to the change for it to happen.  Don’t forget who you were the day you decided to become brilliant!

DO inspire others! Never lose sight that you’re where someone else would love to be… right now! You have been given the gift of greatness so inspire others to follow their dreams, just like you have yours.

DON’T do what others want you to do. Remember to stand your ground. This is your journey and your dream. Don’t succumb to peer pressure and certainly don’t let fear or envy play a part when you’re making decisions.

DO be realistic. There’s nothing wrong with dreaming big but sometimes there’s nothing wrong with bringing everything down to a level where you can focus and re-assess your plan to make sure you’re on track. Setting yourself targets and deadlines is a great way to do this.

 .

DON’T let fear prevent you from starting or moving forward. I always say… ‘fear will pass but regret lasts forever’. Don’t be the topic of a ‘could have been story’. Listen to your gut… you’ll make the right decision. As Susan Jeffers would say in her small yet powerful book “Feel the Fear and Do It Anyway”  An absolute must read.                   Feel The Fear And Do It Anyway

Just remember… you’re doing great! If you’ve started your entrepreneurial journey, you’re where others would love to be. Keep up the good work! If you‘ve not started yet… why not? Take the steps that so many people only dream about!

    Hi Belinda

I am desperate to get into property! When I see fields I imagine houses or horses on it ! Horses are my other passion. I love designing property and that rush when a family decide the home I’ve made is right for them . I used to do this before life changed and I lost everything ????
I don’t know how to get back into property in my current circumstances as I don’t have a large lump sum to buy into the game again . This is where I hope to learn from you how to do this ! I too want to have financial freedom and the ability to help my children in their business endevers also .

I was on my dream . I was in property but lost it all to an unscrupulous ex who shifted assets abroad and left us with debt and no business . Now I have to try and start again and I’m not sure how to do that –

I have been surfing online greater than three hours these days, yet
I by no means discovered any fascinating article like yours.
It’s beautiful price sufficient for me. In my view, if all web owners and bloggers made excellent
content material as you did, the internet will probably be a lot more useful than ever before.
