I hope you’re feeling relaxed after the Bank Holiday weekend! Don’t forget to let me know how you spent your extra day off work indulging yourself!
So back to this week’s blog and I can’t wait to explain the rule I completely abide by! The 80/20 rule! What’s that about I hear you ask? You’re probably think it relates to how I like my gin and tonic- 80% gin, 20% tonic! Haha! (actually I think I might treat myself… *remembers last week’s blog*) after this week’s instalment.
In all honesty, the more people I talk to, the more I’m seeing that people’s free time isn’t actually their ‘free’ time. Imagine, you had a blank piece of paper in front of you, drew a perfect circle and had to split into the time you’re at work, think about work, worry about work and actually spend time doing exactly what you want to do. How would it look?
I think you may be surprised with the outcome. Especially if you’re caught in the ‘time for money’ trap.
I teach and am a true advocate for the 80/20 rule. I want to do 20% of the work for 80% of the benefit. Who doesn’t? Just to be clear, I don’t mean I don’t pull my weight (just ask the team)… I’d just rather work smart… not long. Again, who doesn’t? I believe in this so much this is something I actively promote in Team BG headquarters!
The reason why we can become more successful is to work what we call in our ‘Sweet Spot’, you know that sweet zone where we feel it was made especially for us. This could be the topic or subject or part of that job that we excel in. Well, how can you just get to do that and nothing else? If you could stop doing parts of your job what would they be?
See, years ago I decided to outsource everything (slowly at first) that I didn’t enjoy, did not want to do and to be honest that someone else was better at doing than me so I could just do the thing I loved… created profits for my company!
Not only did I decide to do this in my company but in all aspects of my life. I even got a cleaner so every Friday when I got home from work my house was clean, tidy and smelling gorgeous. In fact, even my daughters have had cleaners for years so they get time to themselves or on their business or just having fun! Who wants to spend their weekend cleaning when you could be out with the family or having some you time.
How would it feel if you outsourced the cleaning even for two hours a week or the bookkeeping? What would you do with the additional time?
So if you were to up your income, your life and your lifestyle, what would you let go of?
What would not serve you anymore to do? What can someone else do better?
What would you stop wasting time doing? How would you spend your most valuable moments to make it count?
Keep working to get to do the 20% of the things that earn you 80% of the income.
Please comment share with me on Facebook two of the things you would let go of. And the one thing where you know if you did this you would make a bigger difference?
Live the life you love
